Anyone who rides a bike in Worriken will soon come to the conclusion that this really is a cyclist’s paradise. And best of all … it’s there for everyone: cyclists, e-bikers, mountain bikers and racing cyclists! You can calmly ride along the flat cycle path network, which stretches over hundreds of kilometres, or really work up a sweat in the hilly surrounding area. Whether asphalt or single-track trails with obstacles and mud – in Worriken you decide! However, all the cycle paths have one thing in common: there is little and often no traffic at all, enabling you to cycle undisturbed amidst a picturesque natural landscape. Here is an overview of the cycling routes in the area.
The RAVeL may be flat, but once you get off it, you’ll surely appreciate the help of a motor. Rent e-bikes at the reception in Worriken for a relaxed bike tour through the Eifel-Ardennes region.
The Eifel isn’t flat, is it? The region is known for its hilly landscape! That’s true, but the old railway lines have recently been converted into car-free cycle paths. RAVeL routes now run along the former railway lines throughout the region. The tarmac paths are reserved for non-motorised users, i.e. cyclists, pedestrians, horse riders and inline skaters. This means you can cycle through the Eifel-Ardennes region on relatively flat roads with a maximum gradient of 3%. Worriken is located on the RAVeL route 45a, a branch of the famous Vennbahn, a 125 km long cycle route between Aachen and Trois-Vierges. You can take the RAVeL 45a to Stadtkyll in an easterly direction (approx. 26 km). If you cycle west, you will reach the Vennbahn near Weywertz after 4 km.
Of course, being able to set the number of kilometres for the bike tour does offer advantages. In East Belgium and the province of Liège there is a well-developed, traffic-calmed network of cycle paths, most of which are car-free. Work out your personal favourite route and combine the RAVeL route and the cycling junctions for even more cycling fun.
