Highly recommended in autumn is the Nature-Castle-Lake – Knotenpunkt Tour.
Start point: Knotenpunkt 18 at the former Bütgenbach train station, only 300 meters from the reception. The 47 km route passes by:

- the lakes and dams of Robertville and Bütgenbach 🌊
- Sourbrodt Train Station 🚉
- the nature reserves Herzogenvenn, Rurbusch, and High Fens 🌿

Do the Hunting Check before you set off
Before setting off on your hike or cycle ride, carry out a ‘hunting check’.
This will allow you to check whether your route takes you through a hunting ground or any other restricted area. If necessary, adjust your route or postpone your trip until another day.

Plan your walk or cycle ride using the East Belgium route planner, NodeMapp, via the junctions. Hunting dates and other closures are displayed in the junction-based route planner and updated daily.

2. Check a GPX route using ChasseOnWeb
Do you already have a GPX file for your walking or cycling route? If so, you can check your route using ChasseOnWeb.
ChasseOnWeb is an official map application for Wallonia that displays hunting grounds and reported hunting activities, as well as any associated closures.
Follow these steps:
- Open ChasseOnWeb and first select your preferred language.
- Select the date on which you wish to undertake your trip.
- Import your GPS file (e.g. GPX or KML).
- Check whether your route passes through an area that is closed on that day. If necessary, adjust your route or reschedule your trip for another day.
Hunting data is updated regularly. Nevertheless, the online information is provided for guidance only.
3. Tours around the Elsenborn military training area
Some walking and cycling routes in the region take you close to the Elsenborn military training area. Here, you should also check whether certain areas are closed or inaccessible due to military exercises.
