Cross country skiing

You don’t always have to travel a long way for a winter sports holiday. You can also go cross-country skiing in Belgium, and Worriken is particularly good for this! Did you know that Worriken’s cross-country ski slopes are open up to 60 days a year? You will also find everything for a great winter holiday in Worriken after the annual clean-up: culinary delights in our restaurant, relaxation in the sauna and a cosy atmosphere in the evening before going to sleep in your chalet surrounded by nature. And you can leave your car in the parking lot without any worries during your holiday: everything you need for a perfect stay in winter is within walking distance.

You can rent your cross-country skiing equipment in the multi-purpose hall, including cross-country skis, cross-country poles and matching shoes. There are a total of 750 sets of cross-country skiing equipment available, so reservations are not necessary. However, if you come to Bütgenbach for cross-country skiing with a larger group, it is still advisable to make a reservation.

The cross-country course starts at the roundabout near Worriken reception. From there, follow the sign to the right and enjoy the beautiful view of the village of Bütgenbach and the lake during your 2 km cross-country journey. Ski across the meadows around Worriken and enjoy the impressive tranquility. It is an ideal beginner’s course. Not too long, not too difficult.

The longer circuits of 4, 6 and 8 km take you on an adventurous journey through woods and meadows. They are all well signposted. These circuits may not be used by walkers.

Cross-country skiing is an intensive endurance sport. So leave your downhill skiing gear at home. Way too warm. Wear regular running or cycling clothes. Don’t forget your gloves, a hat and sunglasses!
