Field Setup
Objective of the Game
The goal is to score points (runs) by hitting the ball and running around four bases in a circle – completing one full round.
Roles
• One team is on offense (batting team).
• The other team is on defense (fielding team).
Offense (Scoring Points)
• One player from the batting team is the batter.
• One player from the fielding team (the pitcher) throws the ball.
• The batter tries to hit the ball with the bat.
• If the ball is hit, the batter runs to the first base.
• The goal is to run in sequence through all four bases (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Home Base).
• Reaching the Home Base scores 1 point (run) for the team.
Home Run:
• If the batter hits the ball far enough to run all four bases and return to the Home Base without being stopped, it is called a Home Run.
• The team scores points for all runners on the bases plus the batter.
Defense
• The fielders try to catch the ball quickly or throw it after it touches the ground to get the runner out (e.g. by tagging the runner with the ball or reaching the base with the ball before the runner).
• If a player is “out”, they must return to the bench. Once all players of the batting team are out, the teams switch roles.
